I pulled out a stack of magazines from a very nice, neat magazine holder to throw out. Yes, they were organized, but 6 to 12 months old. It's difficult throwing out magazines because they seem like books with their colorful pages and helpful hints. However, they accumulate quickly and in themselves cause a lot of clutter. One thing that has helped me is to know that magazines run the same types of articles in a timed cycle...every 18 months, an article on topic one, every year, an article on topic 2, etc. So...if you haven't digested every bit of each magazine, the info will come back around.
Thanks for those who have commented on their progress for the first month. You're an inspiration to me! Let's try to do that in the next week or so to encourage each other to keep simplifying!
Emptied out an overflowing storage container in the kitchen pantry/closet. 9 items either given away or put in yard sale box; about 15 items thrown away!!
ReplyDelete*Great advice about magazines! I don't have a hard time with those...and better still, I finally have started recycling them. However, when I dumped my first batch into the bin, it was REALLY tempting to reach in and take some that were already in there! I refrained, due to possible germ issues. I mean, it's one thing to get a hand-me-down magazine from a friend - but from the dump? But, I was tempted! I really love to read magazines!
