Day 2
From the comments you've made, you are all doing a wonderful job! Today a work shirt went into my give away bin. It's always been too big, so I have never liked it, and I have several others I can use for school spirit day.
I put in the give away bag a pair of really nice Italian leather shoes that my sister gave me when she was cleaning out her closet about ten years ago. I wear 7 and a half medium and these are 7 and a half narrow. They feel too tight and I have never worn them. It's hard to get rid of shoes that cost more than $100. Maybe someone will be able to use them.
I threw away a toy today. Both days have included some additional sorting and returning items to proper places as I decided what item to remove from the madness. Nice extra benefits and the total time for each day has probably been 1 1/2 to 2 minutes. *Susan - just to maybe make you feel better about the shoes, I have tried to sell many pairs of shoes (my husband had heel issues for a while and bought all kinds of shoes instead of going to the dr.) over the years at yard sales and on ebay. I never had any luck getting even a reasonable amount for shoes (and the hubby has expensive taste in shoes)! Probably the best route is to get the tax deduction and don't feel guilty! :)
...a very old wool winter coat went to Goodwill a few hours ago...along with some other stuff that has been hiding in the basement for a very long time...
January 2 - one very old bathroom scale....bought it about 24 years ago. Hey - the dial still moves when I stand on it - why not keep it??? Because it's grossly inaccurate and I finally realized that's why I keep gaining weight when I go to the doctor's office. Confession - I replaced it today with a new one.
