I cleaned out an old 3-ring binder from a "focus group" I was in for Stafford County. The group had finished its work long ago, but the full binder was on the shelf. I am taking the binder to the school to leave in the office for kids who need supplies. Teachers can often use extra things like this if you want to give assorted pencils, pens, crayons, colored pencils (even mismatched) to one you know.
*Simplify - that is a good tip about extra school supplies. I threw out a craft kit that one of the kids had used several times, but not everything had been used up. I checked with her to make sure she didn't want it any more and out it went. I will need her help for the next 3 shelves as it is full of kid's craft things and games. She's the only one left who uses those items.
ReplyDeleteConfessions of a pile-a-holic.....felt like taking a nap today after working all weekend (not having time to "simplify") but felt so compelled to get rid of something I couldn't sleep. Went through a pile of papers....discarded quite a few from when I was a consultant and did in-home parties (2 years ago). Also added to the give-away box: 3 baskets that really are not cute, a box of floating christmas candles i will never use,and a box of 6 jigsaw puzzles that I do not like and will not ever put together. There....much more productive than taking a nap. Now it's time time to pick up the kids!
ReplyDelete...along those lines...today, at work, I tossed about a dozen dried up dry erase markers. The "dry erase fairy" has not restored them in over a year so I decided to let them go...and then I moved onto the Crayola markers. I also collected a huge handful of pens and took them to the workroom. It is possible that some of them were "borrowed" from there in the first place. Time to look around the house...I'm thinking that there is something in the kitchen that needs to go! Keep up the good work! This is fun AND beneficial, too! :o)
ReplyDeleteWhen I walked in my house after school today, I saw grains of dry rice covering the floor of the foyer, dining room, living room, hallway, steps, and family room. I could not figure out where the rice came from or how it was so evenly spread throughout the house. By the way, there was no rice on the kitchen floor! It turns out that Kenna, my collie, found a handcrafted microwave heating bag that a student gave me for Christmas several years ago. She thought it was a dog toy, bit holes in it, and carried it around the house. Sadly, my cozy rice bag is now in the trash.
ReplyDeleteI put a book in the "give-away" box later in the day.
