Day 26: Those Out of the Way Places

I went into a closet under our stairway to find a disaster area. Out of sight, out of mind I guess. In 5 minutes I put a fanny pack and a camping hammock in the box for Goodwill. I will be visiting that space again and again this year.

  1. Ooooohhhh....I've had a productive day!! Got my bookshelves just the way I want them (combo book and decorations). Tore into my hutch and replaced only what really needs to be there - the rest went in the give away box. Since I was on such a roll I went into the kitchen to where we keep the dinnerware we currently use....and the that I am sooooo tired of. Since there was nobody to tell me "oh, it's still so nice", I quickly put all the pieces in a box, along with about 14 mugs and the "cheesy" Christmas plates and mugs Carl bought me at the dollar store 6 years ago, took it straight out to the car and drove immediately to Goodwill. If I didn't go right away, I would second guess myself and it would never leave!! So, deposited an entire trunk load of stuff that I've been collecting into the arms of the Goodwill employee!! Woo Hoo!!! I then moved the dinnerware I now wish to use daily from the 2nd shelf to the 1st shelf in the kitchen. Now I have an empty shelf in my kitchen and two in my butler's pantry!!!

  3. Cheryl, GREAT work! I can just picture how nice your bookshelves and empty kitchen/pantry shelves must look. Doesn't it feel good?

  4. Yes, it feels great! I feel I must explain about my dinnerware. I'm not one to get rid of something useful like good dinnerware. However, it was an inexpensive set I purchased as a grocery store promotion about 10 years ago. Most of the plates were chipped and some of the glaze had crackled from the microwave. I had waited to use my other set until the children no longer dropped or chipped things. Therefore, it was time to get rid of the old and use the new.

  5. Cheryl, I was happy when my family graduated from unbreakable Corelle dishes to my current Pfaltzgraff dishes. My Corelle dishes went to college with my son when he moved into a house off campus. I'm sure your old dishes will find a good home.
