Today I am getting rid of some packaged mixes that have been in the pantry for too long. You know the type, the ones that come in a gift set on holidays, or with mugs, etc. I use part of the gift set and stash the other items on the shelf where they gradually inch toward the back and are forgotten. I need to plan to use them up soon after receiving them in the future.
I haven't checked in in a few days but have continued to get rid of an item a day. This week one of those items was the HUGE shipping box from my computer. I called Staples and asked if there was any good reason to save it. I think I have saved a lot of boxes over the years that I thought I might need so that I could return the item or I might "need it" to use for some other reason. If I want to send something out in the mail, I can always get another box; the size of the one I saved probably wouldn't be right anyway.
ReplyDeleteCleaned out my refrigerator today....don't do that enough. Proudly, I found no mold. Speaking of boxes, I finally threw out the box from our Wii which was purchased 13 months ago and had been sitting visible in the family room since then....what is wrong with me??? Maybe I thought we may have to return it. Mixes....you would not believe, Heidi, how many I threw out a couple of months ago. I totally understand that one. I have a "resolution" on that one, too. Over the last several days I have thrown away many papers the children have brought home from school since....er....about last March! Little by little this house may become "liveable" again!!
ReplyDeleteGreat decluttering, ladies! I have some of those computer boxes in the attic, too, that I now remember.
ReplyDeleteCheryl, paper is overwhelming isn't it? I always like summer because the influx of paper from school ends.
i am not sure this counts, but i am super tired and can't think straight enough to find something else to get rid of...i cut a t-shirt up into dust cloths today (vs. throwing it out). I couldn't give it away because it has my daughter's name on the back of it. I don't think there are many other girls named "Korrie" out there. :) i guess i'm in charge of the rules of this for me, so i'll let it count. It's out of the dresser and I have been low on dust cloths! :)
ReplyDeleteI threw away the manuals to computer programs for computers that we no longer possess...and a bunch of other stuff that has been hiding in a corner cupboard for a VERY long time!
ReplyDeleteI started a bag of food items to donate to Hope House. I purchase a lot of food items free with coupons. Right now I am able to get the Yokisobi noodles free at Giant with coupons, so 6 of those go in my bag, along with some Kraft easy mac I bought for a rebate. They are always happy to receive any donations I bring by. Just for good measure, after reading comments about throwing out old boxes, I am throwing away the box from the boots I bought at Walmart a few weeks ago. It has been sitting in the living room. I normally don't throw away a box this soon. I normally don't buy boots at Walmart either, but Glen was out of town, there was snow on the ground, more snow coming, and the water waterproof outer layer of my old boots had come off the boots as I sat on the floor in the nursery at church.
