Watching the show "Hoarders" makes me almost physically ill. It's obvious that extreme clutter can ruin lives and health. I heard of a fire where firemen couldn't reach the victim; there was a mention of lots of boxes and stuff around. Dangerous...
Not only do we feel better, but our lives move more efficiently and in some ways, are safer when we have less stuff.
Today I put a shirt in the give away box.
Threw out 1 old notebook full of scribbles and lists, 3 packs of used index cards, and then put one book in the give-away box.
ReplyDelete*Concerning the topic of the day, I have not seen the show Hoarders - but I love watching Clean House, Clean Sweep, and those type of shows. I always thought it was odd that I love the shows but couldn't keep my house organized...
ReplyDeleteI'm still a long way from where I want to be, but I am feeling hopeful as this one-per-day year is progressing!
Was able to spend more time in the basement today - the first time since the 20-day challenge got one of the basement "zones" organized. It was an area about 6 ft. x 6 ft. near the basement door. I was able to completely clear it out and reorganize there this afternoon. Three more items went into the give-away box, I packaged up 5 DVD's and 1 video to return to their owner via mail, and I threw away 1 pair of shoes and the two used ponchos from Water Country USA (finally!).
This pushes my year total over the next 100 increment mark to 412 items given-away, tossed, or returned.
Heidi - thanks again for maintaining this blog. If I can keep this going throughout the whole year (even just at the one-per-day pace), it will be such a great thing for my home! :)
