Whew, this time of year is more and more hectic! I'm happy that this commitment is"one per day" because I'm barely squeaking by right now. In the cedar chest my dad made for me, I store towels and sheets. I will tackle it more later, but today I pulled out a hand towel that matches nothing and put it in the give away bin.
OK......I'm delinquent....I literally have not been at my computer in many days d/t being sick, working, etc. However, during this time I was still thinking about simplifying and every 2-3 days did either throw something away or put something in the give away box. Yesterday was my first chance at being "productive" again and I have another motivation - my in-laws are coming the end of the month. So.....yesterday I added to the Goodwill box and also took the items to Goodwill before I changed my mind! Hope the numbers can be applied to the past 2 weeks....approximately 60 VHS tapes (Yes, I know that seems like a lot but the children did not want to get rid of their Veggie Tales collection, etc.), approximately 20 computer game CDs, several items of clothing, my daughter's barbies (she never really "got into" playing with them), many of her Polly Pockets, a large Barbie remote control car and some books. Oh, that felt soooooooo good! In the process of cleaning up the "corners" and piles around here I found the rest of the photos of the children, birth to now, and today I hope to get them in albums this week. I do not hold to the fallacy that I will someday scrapbook, but at least we will be able to look at them more easily. Plus, it will keep my mother-in-law busy when she is here :D
ReplyDeleteCheryl, you're making tremendous progress! Also, that's a great idea to ask your mother-in-law to help organize photos into albums.
ReplyDelete*Cheryl - that's a lotta stuff you got rid of - awesome!
ReplyDeleteToday I put a puzzle in the give-away box. It was really difficult for me. I bought that puzzle for our annual trip to the beach. Everyone put it together so fast that I barely had a chance to work on it. I brought it back home convinced that I would put it together here and enjoy that puzzle myself. Well, that was several trips ago! This was the hardest thing for me to get rid of so far - and I'm not entirely convinced that it will actually leave the house. I'll keep you posted! :)
Actually, having my mom-in-law organize the photos would be nice....but she cannot emotionally handle organizing anything, let alone photos. No, I was planning to get them in books so she can look at them.....over and over....the entire time she is here. It will keep her busy for many hours. So far I have them lying inside the appropriate books but have yet to place them in the sleeves.....later.
