Day 67: Atlanta Braves Ponchos

In my closet cleaning, I came across a bag of Atlanta Braves rain ponchos our family had paid through the nose for while attending the professional game in the rain. (9 years ago) They are just plain plastic, but the sting of their expense in our time of need still must ring in my head.

Now, to wear Atlanta Braves rain ponchos at a Braves game is one thing. I have "suggested" that my family use them on other rainy outings and that goes over like a lead balloon. Obviously then, I shouldn't keep them. There may be some staunch Braves fans out there who will snatch them up at Goodwill.

  1. Julie, great work on the basement! I'm so glad you have enough space cleared to achieve your goal.

  2. Heidi! That is a funny story about the ponchos! I bought dollar-store ponchos to have on hand at Disney World in case it rained. As you can imagine - no one wanted to wear them and there were a few negative comments thrown around about my ponchos! Thankfully, it didn't rain much while we were there and everyone happily sat on them while we watched Fantasmic one evening just after it rained. :) Since they were only a dollar, I had no qualms about pitching them as we walked out of the event (it was our last night there)!

I will admit - I still have 2 ponchos in ziploc bags in the basement from a trip to Water Country USA. Hanging on to those for the same reason you had the Braves ones. Unfortunately, when I was getting ready to go to Disney I couldn't find the ones from Water Country, which is why I bought new ones from the dollar store...ah, the vicious cycle of clutter! Maybe the ponchos will be out the door today? (Sigh!)

  3. Rain ponchos! I to have a couple from Disneyland that I paid a small fortune for. I came across them recently but couldn't throw them out since I remembered that we did use them again when we power-washed the windows on our house. So I'm keeping mine for a little longer.

I panicked a bit when I realized that my 20 day challenge was almost up.. oh no! It may be my 30 or 40 day challenge, I'm afraid :-/ I took a little time to go through my bedroom last week and tossed a boat load of old magazines, papers and of course dust (does dust count by the way?). Now I'm back to the office, but I have to clear the filing cabinet downstairs before I can finish the office clutter etc... I'm afraid that 365 days may not be enough...I keep starting on one thing and it leads to another. This from a woman who didn't think I needed to do this.. wow! I love you, Heidi :)

  4. I have three ponchos from Sea World. They were definitely needed during the Shamu show. I'm going to hang on to them just in case my daughter fulfills her dream of being a whale trainer at Sea World.
