Day 62: Paper
I spent time today in my project closet sorting through lots of paper. Have you ever had company coming and just grabbed a pile and stuffed it in a bag or box? That's what I found. I realize that a good filing system is essential, and I liked one of our member's comments about dealing with mail as soon as it arrives to cut down on paper clutter. Lots of my paper items went into the trash (old magazines, junk mail), some went into the memory file (birthday cards made by the children), and I am filing certain items. Still have a ways to go, but made progress. I thought computers were supposed to cut down on this. :)

Another good place to declutter is your computer!
ReplyDeleteI just deleted hundreds of e-mails, and dozens of other files that I have absolutely no need of. They might not take up space in the third dimension, but they were cluttering up my life nonetheless.
Finishing up my kitchen this morning. I really feel like my space is more usable now. Relief! Many things into both the trash and the give away box over the last 3 days. :-)
ReplyDelete*Heidi - yes, I've done that too! Paperwork is so easy to let slide and then boom - it's overwhelming!
ReplyDelete*Cindy - I wonder if it's just those of us with physical clutter issues that have email clutter issues, too!
*Cheryl - that is so great!
I sorted through my side of the closet this morning and have another trashbag full of clothes for Goodwill. Didn't count it yet - so will get back on here at some point with a number. :)
I don't know if I'm done for the day or not...but I put 14 articles of clothing into the give-away box. This bumps me over the 300 mark for number of items thrown away, returned, or given away this year! :)
ReplyDeleteWas able to do a little more work tonight to the basement, adding 1 book, 1 wire shelving unit, and one pillow form (still in packaging) to the give-away box. Threw away 5 more storage containers that I had been hanging on to for years and never used.
