My eyes are becoming trained to look for unnecessary clutter in hidden places. Today I found a round hair brush all chewed up from our dog in the recesses of a drawer as well as some mostly used lotion I got as a gift eight years ago from a student. Yikes! Both went into the trash.
We are on day 42, ladies, and everyone seems to be making great progress! I have wondered, watching shows like "Clean House," if those people really change, or if they revert back to their messy ways. By simplifying every day, I think we are developing habits that will change us for good.
Great point, Heidi! It's easier to change your mindset and create new habits when simplifying becomes a day to day activity.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, I'm getting tired of Kenna being my simplifying helper. Today she chewed a favorite Tupperware bowl that was sitting at snout level on the coffee table.
We had a leak from an "ice dam" in our gutter last night which caused the frame above the picture window to rain on the window sill/ledge for about 12 hours. I grabbed dish towels to sop up the mess and noticed that two "wedding shower" dish towels were quite frayed. They are being demoted from kitchen towels to dog towels.
I'm sure it's annoying with Kenna "helping" you. :) Sorry to hear of your leak.

I sure do enjoy reading everyone's posts :-) Today we had a small crisis of our own - our house accidently stopped the falling of one of our neighbor's trees - oops - tree in the master bathroom shower! Since that prompted picture-taking and Facebook-posting, I finally sat myself down and organized/posted the rest of the photos on the camera....had about 180 photos to download and "manage". It took a lot of time but now the camera is again empty and my friends can see the photos! Can this be classified somehow as "simplifying?"
