Day 96: Paper

With all the on-line billing, e-pay, websites, etc., it's amazing how much paper we still accumulate. Having gotten rid of a lot of recipes yesterday that I cut out years ago, I'm tackling office clutter and paper today. Plan to get rid of or file at least 20 items of paper, hopefully more.

  1. As I packed items from my kitchen, I found a few things that will not be going to my new house. I threw away 8 mini bread loaf pans that had become rusty. If I want to bake small loaves to give as gifts, the disposable ones work just as well and the bread won't taste rusty - yuck. I discovered that I had 5 muffin tins! It was easy to get rid of the 2 rusty ones and the 1 dented one. I kept two that nested into each other and put 1 in a box that will be labeled with my daughter's name in case she needs to start a kitchen before she gets married. I also put in her box a 9 x 12 baking pan with a broiler insert.

As I went through my pantry, I found a Hellman's mayonnaise bottle (best used by Jan 1, 05), a bottle of lemon juice (best used by Jun 13, 04), a bottle of lime juice (best used by Nov 9, 03), a Gulden's mustard bottle (best used by Jun 5, 06), and a French's mustard bottle (best used by Aug 06). I hate throwing away food, but obviously we aren't big consumers of the above items.

I'll probably bring the lemon juice to school so the kids can use it to paint invisible pictures.

  2. *Susan - excellent work!

*Heidi - I have most of my recipes on my computer, but have a stash of recipes I need to get on there. Maybe on a rainy day? :)

I threw away some color photo copies of a cute graduation card I made for a young man about 10 years ago. Still have the original (it was cute, funny, and has pics of my girls in it), so I don't need the copies.

I am also putting a 1997 People Magazine Princess Diana Tribute in the give-away box. Every few years I check on ebay - they are not selling for anything still! So, I'm gonna part with it. This is a little difficult since I am an anglophile and a royal watcher (yes, when I was 17 I woke up at 5 A.M. and watched the wedding)...but really, I don't need this magazine and I really don't want to keep it for 40 more years when it will still be worth nothing because so many other people are holding on to theirs! :)
