It's a scary place in many homes. I feel sorry for plumbers who have to stick their heads into those cabinets under kitchen sinks. How long has it been since you've ventured into that dark crevice?
Awhile back, I bought a handled plastic tote and fit all the cleaning suppies into that. I threw out anything that wouldn't fit or found another place for it. Now, I'm quite proud if the door is open and people only see an organized bin of current cleaning supplies! Plus, I don't dread looking for a bottle of Windex, because it is right in the tote, easy to grab.
Have you sorted under your sink lately?
Jamckeen, I love fun numbers, especially with 5's in them, so your total on 5/5 was great! Wonderful work!
ReplyDelete*Heidi! Another great place to put on the list to simplify!
ReplyDelete*2 mismatched boxes of Christmas plates put in the give-away box.
*Yesterday, while moving some books around on the big shelf, I found a notebook from a few years back. I write all kinds of things in them - from grocery lists, sermon notes, and to do lists - to story ideas, phone numbers, and appointments. This one is from about 5 or 6 years ago. I was reading a book about organization at the time and I found notes I had written from the book - finishing statements that the author suggested to help tackle this difficult issue in my life.
I just wanted to share with you guys some of the ways I finished the statements at that time. It was interesting to find in the middle of this year we have all dedicated to simplifying.
~I'm tired of feeling: like a failure, feeling like I'm one step ahead of disaster, wasting time, feeling guilty
~I can't: just walk into a room in my house and enjoy it because of the clutter.
~The disorganization makes me feel: depressed, guilty, frustrated, like a failure.
~When people visit: I feel embarrassed, want them to leave as soon as possible.
I'm thankful that when I found this notebook and read my thoughts from that time, that at least I am in the middle of trying to do something about this!
