I have had a large stack of sample textbooks in my classroom for months. It's illegal to use them for copying since the school system didn't buy those publishers and we have enough legal history teaching materials to teach the students only history for three years! I'm sure someone who homeschools or lives in an English speaking poor country could use them, but how do I find those people and do I ship them for hundreds of dollars? I finally gulped my intolerance for wasting good resources and set them out for the trash. It feels great now!
My point is, there's a time to just declutter your life even if it wastes resources and money. "But I paid so much for this purple leisure suit!!" It's really OK. Just get rid of whatever it is.
Finally! I'm back! This having a "real" job has put a big cramp on my free-time! I also finally have gotten back to simplifying. I have continued to clear out during my long absence (been since early August) and removed approximately 50 more items over the last 3 months.
ReplyDeleteI started back in earnest over Halloween weekend and in the last week or so plus, I have removed 62 more items! So, my total for the year is now 862. My goal for the year will be 1,000 items removed from my home.
I am going to try to read through the posts that I've missed. Already read through 20 today. Thank you "Simplify" for your commitment to the blog and the cause! Has anyone talked about a get-together at the start of the new year to celebrate what we've accomplished this year? At least for the local followers? I'm up for a breakfast, lunch, or dinner celebration!
